PENGUINS CAN’T FLY. THIS ONE IS GOING TO TRY. It’s the first day of Flight School, where they teach birds to fly. Penguin has the soul of an eagle and one enormous dream: to live on the wind. There’s just one problem. Penguins can’t fly. The other birds may know that. Penguin refuses to believe it. With determination, friends of a feather, and a little help with the technical parts, Penguin discovers that sometimes the biggest dreams need more than wings. PENGUIN GOES TO FLIGHT SCHOOL is a funny, uplifting live musical for ages 2–7 about believing in what you want, finding friends who believe in you, and getting your dream off the ground. Recommended for Ages 2–7. Runtime 55 minutes, no intermission.

This show is for big kids. It’s Halloween, and something strange is happening at Frankie Steiner’s house. Frankie is a kid genius who loves science, robotics and old monster movies. When he gets an idea for the annual robotics competition, his experiment works a little too well. What starts as a science project turns into a funny, spooky adventure filled with monsters, mad science, friendship and things that definitely do not go according to plan. KID FRANKENSTEIN is a Halloween musical for ages 7+ and families ready for something a little bigger. Recommended for Ages 7+. Runtime 55 minutes, no intermission.

Can I bring a 2-year-old to the show?

Yes — Penguin Goes to Flight School is designed for ages 2 and up. Our shows run 55 minutes with no intermission, and the house lights never go all the way down, so you can step out with a little one whenever you need to.

Does my baby need a ticket?

Every child over 12 months needs a ticket. A baby under 12 months can sit on a parent’s lap at no charge. Tickets cost the same for adults and children — we don’t charge extra for grown-ups.

Where do I park my stroller?

You don’t — our Stroller Valets are stationed on the street at the door. Hand your stroller over, walk straight in, and pick it up on your way out. No folding it on the sidewalk, no wedging it into a lobby corner, and strollers stay out of the seating area so the aisles are clear.

Yes. Booster seats are available — just ask any usher when you arrive, or on your way to your seats.

What time should we arrive at the theatre?

We recommend arriving 15-20 minutes before showtime to allow time for parking, finding your seats, and getting comfortable.

How do we get to the theater by subway?

The closest elevator-accessible station is 50th St (C/E), three blocks north on Eighth Avenue, with elevators from the street all the way down to the platform. Times Square–42nd St also has elevators and puts you five blocks south. Either way it is a flat walk to 339 W 47th Street with a stroller — and our Stroller Valets take it at the door when you arrive.

Is there parking near the theater?

Several paid parking garages are located within a few blocks of Actors Temple Theatre. On-street parking on Sundays only may be limited, so families should allow extra time.

Are there bathrooms in the theater?

Yes, and they are available throughout the performance. An accessible family restroom is available just inside the entrance. The full ladies room is on the 2nd floor and the men’s room is on the lower level.

Of course! And we also sell an assortment of snacks and juices and (kosher cupcakes!) in case you forget.

What happens if my child gets scared during the show?

Our shows are designed to be age-appropriate and non-scary. However, if your child needs to leave, ushers can help you exit quietly and you’re welcome to return when ready.

Do you have wheelchair access?

Access is limited but available. A door opens directly onto the sidewalk, and a chair lift carries you up the six steps to the theatre level. The accessible restroom is on that same level, so there are no further stairs once you are inside. Casual, comfortable clothing is perfect. Some families dress up for a special occasion, but it’s entirely up to you. We recommend layers as the theatre temperature can vary.
