Series Three features the work of Vital R&D, Vital Theatre Company’s ongoing playwrights’ workshop.  Each playwright composed a play set in and around the Upper West Side, the historic neighborhood in which Vital Theatre is located.  The resulting plays span a century and almost as many blocks. 


BLOOMINGDALE ROAD

Set in 19th Century Manhattan, on a dirt path that would one
day be the intersection of Broadway and 76th Street, a father must
decide which of his children is more deserving of the land he owns.


BREAKING ROUTINE

VITAL THEATRE COMPANY is pleased to present its annual VITAL SIGNS New Works Festival.  The three week festival of new, short plays begins Thursday, November 30th at 7:00 p.m. and runs Thursdays through Sundays at 7:00 p.m. through December 17th.  Series Three, running December 14th through 17th, features the work of VITAL R&D, Vital Theatre Company’s ongoing playwright’s workshop, running each evening at 7:00pm and 9:00pm.  The plays in this evening all take place in and around Vital Theatre Company’s Upper West Side neighborhood.  All tickets are $18.00.  $10.00 discounts for students and groups. Now in its ninth season, VITAL THEATRE COMPANY programs include VITAL MAIN STAGE, VITAL CHILDREN’S THEATRE and VITAL VOICES, the company’s Arts in Education program.  To date, 21 plays developed and/or produced as part of VITAL SIGNS New Works Festival have gone on to publication.  Vital Theatre Company recently received an AMERICAN THEATRE WING Award for Continued Excellence and is a six-time winner of the Off-Off Broadway Review’s Award for Excellence.  Vital was also named 2002 Theatre Company of the Year from The New York Theatre Experience
