Saturday Nights this Summer

VITAL THEATRE COMPANY is pleased to announce "THE VITAL FUNNY", a six-weekend long sketch comedy exhibition and competition between numerous groups currently performing in the New York area. This comic free-for-all runs Saturdays nights at 9:30 p.m. the summer with performances on July 17, 24, 31, August 7, 14 and 21.  Tickets are $8.00.  For reservations, please log onto www.vitaltheatre.org or call (212) 592-0129.  Vital Theatre Company is located at 432 W. 42nd Street, 2nd Floor, between 9th and 10th Avenues on Theater Row.

Each evening will feature performances by four established sketch comedy teams who will then be judged by a well-respected team of pretend comic experts - and the audience. At the end of four weeks, the sketch teams that have accumulated the most points will be invited to the semi-finals on August 14. The two top ranking groups will participate in the finals on August 21, with the winning team to be presented by Vital Theatre for a full weekend of solo performance in September.

Held in a special cabaret setting in Vital's 2nd floor theatre, "The Vital Funny" will feature speed skits, long-form, improv, song, film, prison jokes and an abundance of surprises from the comedy teams - in addition to an obscene amount of audience participation.  Refreshments will be served.

Participating teams have been featured at Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, The Knitting Factory, The Raw Space, Medicine Show and Chaschama, among many others. The teams currently committed include: The Big Apple, Crackers, Dawghaus, DJ Jesus, Fearsome, The Mistake, Scallywags and The Wicked Wicked HammerKatz.  (Line-up subject to change. Other performances that make up Vital's Summer of Love include: "Make Nice My Ass! The Republican Convention Welcome Wagon Variety Show", a rotating roster of variety acts each Thursday evening July 8 through August 26.  9:30pm in a cabaret setting, 2nd Floor, Vital Theatre Company. The premiere of J. Holtham's new play, "11th Hour", directed by Bradley Campbell, July 29th through April 15th.  A Vital Directions Project on the 3rd Floor, Vital Theatre Company.
